3901…3984??????

What the fuck did I miss? I drove by the hill with all the commemorative crosses (see ‘I Was In Therapy Today’ for back story). But, usually the numbers creep up by one or two every few to several weeks. Or in very tragic cases (ignoring the fact that one is plenty tragic), it goes up by three or four.

Anyways, it has been on 3901 for several weeks, which was ‘nice’ to see. A slowing a bit of our fallen boys. (Though very sad again if this was a fund raiser, cause 4,000 is so within reach and we’re slowing down. Come on people, reach into your pocket books. But it was not a fund raiser and it is again ‘nice’ to get a respite from all the sickening loss. A very slim silver lining on a very robust black cloud.

But today I drove out to Berkeley to pick up my paycheck and had to do a double take. 3984. 3984? What in the hell??? 83 American soldiers were killed in the last few weeks??? Was this posted right, or are those little rascally high schoolers playing a ‘tasteful’ joke on us? I hope our next generations of Lamorindans are that fucking stupid, because the alternative is this unbelievable spike in deaths.

Damn. And if it is correct, how come I have not heard of this? The last thing I heard was a week ago in how good things were going in Iraq. That the increase/the surge in troops were proving to be successful and that deaths were on a sharp decline.

WTF??? Those pesky kids??? Someone shed some light on this for me.
