Movie Review: Tropic Thunder

Watched it this weekend.

Got there with 45 minutes to spare and there was already a line. I am assuming they made some dough this weekend.

The premise is pretty clever. Actors filming a war movie in the jungle of Vietnam. Everything is good until the acting takes a back seat to the real deal. The crew realizes (after much joking around) that they are indeed in trouble and decide to fight back.

The cast made up of some heavy hitting comedians (Jack Black, Ben Stiller) and some other notables (Robert Downey Jr., Matthew Mc, and a few surprises).

The movie starts out pretty funny and then slowly settles in. There are some parts where the humor is just not present (or maybe not my type), but they do come back with some good lines and some great acting - courtesy of Robert Jr.

A surprise actor makes an unbelievable appearance and for me that is what makes the movie. Incredibly funny and for that part only, worthwhile going to the theater.

Overall a B+, A+ for the individual performance of the guest actor.
