Oregon Punch Reviewed

Ok. I take back what I previously wrote regarding the early season punch that got this young gentlemen suspended for the year (or perhaps not according to this clip).

Now, my previous take was fuck this Oregon guy for sucker punching the Boise State player whose back was turned. And the reason I came to that conclusion was because the clip they showed on Sportscenter started with the Boise player turned to the right laughing and then this fist comes out of nowhere to knock him cold.

However…and clearly intentional…they did not show just a second before where this dumb shit Boise player taunted and slapped at the Oregon guy then started to turn to laugh like a fucking moron when the punch dropped his jaw.

First off, stupid move for Oregon to act that way, but fuck Boise guy. What a total idiot. I love the ‘justice’ of that punch though. Total chickenshit taunting and then “WAAAAP” he get levelled.

So, I think you mentioned racism before TW in an email regarding this, and since I don’t remember or know the rest of the story, I can’t say. But simply based on the fact that ESPN didn’t show the second/s leading up to the punch certainly was a conscious choice and certainly created a very different story/picture.

What are we all about? Who knows? Who cares? It’s too soon to say. We are a slow brewing stew and have just set the proper heat under the stove. We have yet to add bits of carrot and celery and whatever Brazilian bullshit my counterpart would add to a stew. It will take time. Care, whimsy, procrastination, will all be added. Oregon should have taken a little more time to deliberate before suspending him for the year. However, now that they did suspend him, it is a little weak to revisit his “year-long” suspension. Not a lot of thought. Apparently the guy had a list of other infractions and isn’t a very good guy. I don’t really have a strong opinion one way or the other.

Don’t know how to start a post , don’t know if I can’t but I would love some So Co. Sorry if I’m breaking blog rules, but…I’m kicking it in Alta Bates tonight on a couch. Cec is going for night number 2, still no baby. They tried to induce today, but it didn’t get very far. So they’ll let her sleep and try again tomorrow morn. Hope you guys are well.
On the suspension. Obviously because they are doing well, they are reconsidering the suspension. Lame. Have a spine Oregon. However , interesting point that we didn’t see the lead up. Well, Cal will have two bad loses to two good teams. Hopefully they win out.

As for the Bears. Their recent success really just annoys me because they sucked so badly vs Oregon and USC. They played like such demoralized losers and I can’t stand that. If they had played hard and lost, that would have been one thing. Ugggh. Watching Oregon St push USC last night they showed the character I am talking about. Anyways, yeah, if they win out that would be good, but also disappointing to think if they didn’t Longshore it for two games they could have been in the running for the allusive Rose

I think and I could be wrong here but the story goes a little further back, in the week leading up to that game the Oregon guy was flapping his gums pretty good to the media, Boise was doing what all teams do to fire themselves up, pasting his quotes around the locker room. So it didn’t take a genius to guess that somebody from Boise was going to find that dude after the game and talk shit, because thats what you do in sports, Scoreboard Bitch!

The rules never change, you retalitate and you get caught, I guess my take would be if you talk it up in the media you have to be ready for the reprucussions and own it.

I also think if you’re a professional athlete and you get paid and you screw up you have to sit there in the post game press conference and answer every stupid question the media comes up with, if you take the accolades when you win you need to suck it up when you loose. Shit anybody can answer questions about how great they are it takes a man to own a shitty performance.

Interesting, didn’t know I felt so strongly about this topic until I started typing.
