Kelly Clinches 10th World Title

Slater absolutely slayed it with near 19 points out of 20, achieved within the first five minutes of the heat to seal his 10th World Title. Afterwards, Kelly paddled to shore and into a mob that carried him up to the podium where he broke down in tears and dedicated it all to Andy. Pretty amazing stuff. Would be great to see Mick Fanning take this contest to make this a perfect ending. Mick was one of Andy’s best friends and would be better than scripted. Will see what happens.

Slater caps it off with his 45th career Tour Win taking Puerto Rico.

One thing, whether I’ve written about it previous or not, is how much respect these competitors have for one another. If one needs role models in the sports world, then look no further nor any other place than pro surfing. Such class acts from top to bottom.

What are we all about? Who knows? Who cares? It’s too soon to say. We are a slow brewing stew and have just set the proper heat under the stove. We have yet to add bits of carrot and celery and whatever Brazilian bullshit my counterpart would add to a stew. It will take time. Care, whimsy, procrastination, will all be added. Wrong ingredients will surely be added as well, but it is all ok. It’s a process. We will figure it all out in time and hopefully serve up something nourishing and if all goes right, delicious. In the meantime, let’s agree not to worry about, About.
