The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford -Movie Review

The other movie watched this past weekend.  Any of you seen it already?  It’s a long movie.  I actually drifted off in a few of the sections.  Anyways, all in all it is an okay movie, though it got a lot of critical praise.  The movie is 2 1/2 hours though easily could have been whittled down to an hour, forty-five.  

It had its good moments of acting, largely coming from the younger Affleck, Casey.  Brad Pitt actually had some decent scenes.  I was going to make fun of him, but one scene in particular was pretty damn good.  

I don’t know.  This film could go either way.  One thing I didn’t like about the film was its attempts to be too artsy.  The slowed down, off colored weird camera angled shots, etc.   I find that type of camera work distracting rather than adding to a movie.  To me its like that shit shouldn’t need to be attempted.  The movie should carry plenty of weight without having to use artificial means to achieve some desired affect.  Whatever.  What do I know?  Frieda was the only time that I liked the manipulation of the shot.  That was a really good movie.
