Tombstone -Movie Review
Believe it or not, I just watched this one for the first time. An entertaining ‘modern day’ western following the lives of Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday, and the rest. The film came out some 15 years ago, but I think there may be some larger reason I waited so long to watch it.
That being, to truly appreciate the randomness of actors that ended up in this film.
First off, there are the expected actors: Val Kilmer, Kurt Russel, Sam Elliot, and Bill Paxton. The ones in the photo. But once the movie gets rolling, more and more start popping up out of nowhere.
Charlton Heston. Not too suprising. Sort of akin to Brando showing up in Superman. Both legends.
And then Powers Booth from Red Dawn strolls in w/ a guns and a moustache. Consistent for an early 90’s film.
But then Locke from Lost. He looks exactly the same. Meaning he either looks awful for a young man in Tombstone, or he is a robust older guy then and has maintained his form as an significantly older robust man today.
And then Turtle blows through the town like a tumbleweed. “It’s not like the Mainland Barney. Friends treat friends mo’ betta”. That Turtle from North Shore.
And if that wasn’t enough, Jason 90210 Priestly saunters in. Looking ridiculous, mind you.
And then Frank Stallone. Sly’s brother. Naturally.
Then Billy Bob Thornton, Mrs. Stanwyck (AKA Tara’s mom from Friday Night Lights), Michael Bien from Terminator, John Corbett from Northern Exposure…
And hell, my guy, Thomas Hayden Church from Sideways.
I’m sure I’m leaving people out. Like Screech or Pee Wee Herman. But, what a collection.
Anyways, entertaining movie.
