Obama (TW’s Contribution)

Earclops is becoming interactive. TW sent me this editorial on Obama, and I was in the midst of writing back when I figured why not post it on here for several more to read.

This is a link to the article… Hope you don’t mind being a play-a TW.

Fucking hell. I lost what I wrote back…

Shit, it went something like this… I was talking to a friend few nights ago regarding something similar to the point of the article regarding the ‘blackness’ thing -more specifically the oddity of calling Obama a negro.

Because, as stated, Obama is half-black. Half black and half white (and by the way I always pull out the anthropological lens or zoological -shit that’s actually a word..maybe not the right one but I’m going with it - but as a way to keep the ‘humans are the greatest and nothing like the other creatures of this planet that shares nearly all the same DNA’ more in balance.

I think of black cats and white cats for example. Like these animals would give a flying fuck in the different color of fur they have. Because we sure as hell don’t either. They both look good. But within our special, special species, we make these deep, necessary distinctions. We’re largely idiots. I keep that in perspective.

However, I don’t speak cat, so maybe they have that shit going on too…

I diverted…

So, Tiger Woods is half black and half chinese, yet we call him black, or (more PC?) a negro. Now calling Barak or Woods a person of color would be more accurate because they are not alabaster white. And good for them. All white is pretty boring. Much like an empty canvass or vanilla ice cream.

Anyways, making the distinction due to skin tone should be ridiculous (meow), but it’s too late for it to not be relevant and important given our history. To have people of color ascend to the highest offices and ranks is a very good and important trend.

BUT…back to the point and what I was actually writing back to TW. Obama is 50% black and 50% white and what I had stated to my friend the other night, was a jab at how far our country has come that we have raised calling a person a negro from the 1/8th of black ancestral blood it took back in the splendid golden days of Jim Crow to our liberated present…where we’ve raised the bar to 1/2.

Kind of a nice slap in our own faces that drape down from our highly developed superior, special, special frontal lobes (prrrr). Yes, we embrace Barak. Yes, we are so excited that he has a real shot of leading our country. Yes this proves that we are so past racism and are at that place Martin Luther ‘dreamed’ about. The content of one’s character, not the color of their skin… We’re there, right? Yeah! We’re all high-fiving, yet we are calling Obama a negro. It’s a bit of entertaining irony.

Silly humans. The cats would have figured that one out. We’re getting there though…or at least much less disgraceful in regards to ‘race’.
